2016 Cx-9 Oil and Filters
Hi Guys,
I own a CX-9 since June 2016, I love the car, mileage..
I have few questions maybe someone can help.
I usually do the car maintenance by myself, but not for this car until I have changed the oil at the dealer, they charged me 29$ for it.
I realized that they use the cheapest possible oil, therefore 1000 miles later I have changed the oil and filter by myself using Mobil 1 oil and filter, Full Syntetic 5W-30.
Do you guys think is ok to use 0w-30 instead 5W-30 especially during the winter (I live in the North East) ?
Did anyone found the engine air filter (my car has 13k already, being a Turbo, I would like to replace the filter more often) ?
I could find only the K&N for it, I have dig deeper and I realized that the CX-9 uses the same air filter as the Mazdas diesel engines in Europe.

Quick answer, 0W-30 is ALWAYS preferable compared to 5W-30 (better stability due to better base stocks).
I am curious though, I have been under the impression Mazda calls for 0W-20 for all of their piston engines for the last few years; does your CX-9 actually call for 5W-30?
Edit:
I just checked, and sure enough, Mazda calls for 5W-30 for the CX-9; learn something new every day. Were I in your shoes, I'd opt for a top quality 0W-30 and call it a day.
