Poor Windshield...
What kind of windshield glass does 2014 Mazda use?
A little rock chip hit the windshield yesterday on highway following some big trucks, and got a foot long crack... I feel little concern on the quality...
Just driven it for 2 months. Does its warranty cover windshield?

Big trucks, especially Dump trucks, construction vehicles need a longer following distance. On a long straight, pass the buggers!
With highway speeds those little rocks move fast!

Same here, after 12 months/16K miles of ownership on 2013 CX-5.

Same thing just happened to me!
Mano, litterally same exact thing just happened to me. A tiny rock hit my windshield and now there's a HUGE straight line crack in my windshield...it's over a foot long. Did you ever find out for sure if this is covered by warranty? and also, if it wasn't covered how much did you pay for a new windshield? Mine has a rain sensor so I heard that it would end up costing even more.

a warranty only covers defects, not damage from outside sources.
So if you can get your dealership to agree that it is defective glass that broke on its own then you would likely be covered. If they insist that it was an outside source (rock or debris) that did the damage then it will be like trying to convince them to replace the bumper for free after someone hits it in a parking lot.
I've been hit by rocks that sounded like they were coming through the windshield before that didn't do any damage and had little ones that went 'ping' and started a crack. As grim_reaper said it depends on a lot of things but mostly luck on if it will crack or not after impact on the ones that have had a rock impact.
