Need advice on interior repair!
I'm the proud owner of a 2016 CX-5 touring edition, have had the car for 3 weeks and really have been loving everything about it so far, like it much more than my previous vehicle (2014 Ford Focus).
I had a radar detector suctioned to the front windshield of my focus, but wanted something more discreet in the CX-5, so I foolishly purchased a highly rated non-slip rubber pad to sit in the dash, and set the radar detector on. After about a day or so of it being there I checked underneath to see of there was any discoloration or residue from the pad: so far so good. I moved it to another spot on the dash and let it sit there for about 3 (hot) days and, upon removing it, discover it has just slightly melted the texture of my dash into a noticeable rectangle that is a huge eyesore. After the rage subsided, I tried to sand it a little using 2000 grit gently to see if I could blend the egdes but all it did was make the rectangle a little shinier.
Is there anything I can do to salvage this travesty without replacing the dash panel?
