Default Emissions recall on CX-5 2013

Hello everyone,
So I received a letter about this recall and decided to take it in to get it fixed.
Can preforming this emissions fix cause my car to run differently? Before my car had a quicker acceleration and now it doesn't.

Thanks

They pluged it into a computer and downloaded the software for the emissions fix from Mazda. That's all....

The fix was a software update to the PCM to fix Skyactive vehicles that were experiencing a rough idle on cold start up. This is the first time I've heard this complaint and I'm curious. Does the accel problem exist hot and cold engine temps or just cold? Not that I have an answer for it, just curious for future research.

irishf, is you CX5 Petrol or Diesel?

The has been a Cold Start TSB on skyactiv Diesels for almost a year. I haven't heard of any performance issues.

OK, you folks need to do a little research before you start spreading nasty rumors about emissions, rough idle and cold start problems. Here, from the horse's mouth, (Mazda USA) is what the PCM reflash is for:
On certain subject vehicles, the powertrain control module (PCM) may wrongly detect a misfire when accelerating with high engine rpm (more than 5,500 rpm) and with wide-open throttle in cold weather conditions below 32 °F (0 °C), due to improper control logic of the PCM. Under such condition, a malfunction indicator light may flash and the PCM may fall into failsafe mode, which can restrict the throttle opening and cause a lack of power.
Dealers will reprogram the PCM with the latest software to modify the PCM control logic, free of charge.

No rumors from me.

I only speak the truth on Mazda related issues. I am a Mazda Master Tech after all.

Reaper: I'm surprised that a "Mazda Master Tech" (even one who lives half a world away!) doesn't know that we don't get the diesel in the US. The TSB you cite has absolutely nothing to do with Mazda USA's recently announced "Emission Recall 8915K" which involves gasoline 2.0 litre SkyActiv engines from 2013 to 2016.

A Master Tech Throw Down? Gentleman, no need to make an international incident over this. According to what you have stated here, Mazda did label it an Emission related SSP, but it was implemented to address a cold engine concern. So, your both right. Still curious if this lack of power concern irishf is noticing happens all the time.
