dead battery
New here. 2013 CX5 Touring. My 3 year old activated the dome light over the weekend and drained the battery. I put a slow charge on it for 12 hours and started up but had a rough idle and no acceleration...only 20 miles an hour on the road. Had to turn it around this morning and park it. I live in the boonies and need to resolve the issue so I can get it to the dealer for repair. Any ideas? Thanks all!

thanks paris1. BTW how is N CA? Have camped many times up and down the coast into Oregon...outstanding place to be. Yeah, the dome light was left on from Friday evening until Monday morning... I put a slow charge on it for 12 hours last night which was enough to get it started today. I should mention that it was cold last night (35 f) and I leave the car outside. I am going to try a couple of things..1) remove the battery cables from the posts and touch them for 30 seconds in an attempt to reset things back to where they where. Start the car and let it idle in park for 5 minutes and then idle in drive for 5 minutes. If this doesn't work, I plan to change the battery out and see if that helps. Hopefully one of the two options will work otherwise I'm looking at a long tow to the dealer for an expensive repair...

Thanks GR. So I started it back up last night when I returned home, (drove the F-150 into work yesterday), and the issue had resolved itself...drove it in today...no problems. The check engine light is on and I figure it has to do with the issue and just needs to be re-set?

Had an issue with my 2015 touring where it was slow cranking for the past 3 weeks or so, and yesterday it just clicked... Called the dealer after jumping it and getting home, was told that starting with the 2015 model, Mazda is warranting the battery in the CX-5 for the full 3/36 warranty period. I took it in today, they tested it, and replaced it free of charge... it cost me an hour of my time because I chose to wait.... Hats off to Mazda and the dealership on this one...
