In Canada, it's an obligation.

What, not true.

In the US, CX-5's come standard with DRL's. (Currently in the US they are not required by law.)

The daytime running lights are the inboard headlights. They are automatically turned on in daytime when the car is in gear (drive or reverse).

On the Mazda-US website for CX-5, exact wording; "Daytime Running Lights" is shown as standard on all models. It's on the spec sheet, "exterior" section.

really, I stand corrected. I have yet to see a cx-5 running around town with them... I'll have to look closer maybe I'm missing them.

Yes, really.

The reason why most DRL's seem to be less notiiceable is they run at lower intensity than both regular low beams (and high beams of course).

There is no override switch on CX-5 for DRL's, unlike some GM truck (only works for one cycle before reverting to default upon restart).

Mine has the DRL system as well as the auto lighting and fog lights. I have noticed that if you leave even the parking lights or headlights on after the ignition is turned off, the lights will auto turn off in a few minutes. Good to have.

Standard setting by factory is for lights to turn off in 30 seconds, owner can change if desired.

any idea where/how to change this? mine turns off too quickly for my taste, my experience with MB/Lexus/etc seems to have them on for ~1 minute.

also, any finds on brighter/whiter DRL bulbs? (I know it sort of defeat the purpose, but aesthetically it would be nice )
