Default 2016 Mazda CX5 Loud road noise. Is that normal?

I recently bought a 2016 CX5 Sport AWD auto and I'm very disappointed with how loud the road noise is when I am driving on the high ways and city roads. Is it normal for 2016 CX5's?

Assuming Mazda doesn't downgrade sound insulation between Sport and GT trims, it does seem like excessive noise from your video. Was it present when you took the initial test drive? Have you checked tire pressure? Sometimes dealers overinflate.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Mazda added a lot of soundproofing in 2016 to the Touring and GT models...

I read some website about mazda road noise. Some of the customers complain about it. I have checked all tires pressure, they are okay. Also I don't remember when I drove in test drive, there was loud road noise.

This is Sport model, I don't think they added any soundproofing for this model.

One surefire solution would be to spend a few hundred for acoustic sound proofing materials. You can do it yourself for that amount or have a good car sound shop do it for you, but it can get pricey as it's very labor intensive. I did a little at a time on an older VW. Flooring, doors and cargo areas should be enough. You'll notice a significant difference. Dynamat is one company I can think of, but there are several.

If you want to do a quick job use the Dynamat under your floor mats. It's not perfect, but it's quick.

Or just sell the car and buy some other one. :-)

It's obvious what the problem is, you're not playing your music loud enough.
