I am not yet a CX-5 owner, but am interested in buying one. However, I just read about the 2016 model and now I'd like to wait for that. I see it addresses road noise, the dash screen, the radio, and some other things. I also like the look of the grill better, among other things.

I see that a 2015 mid year update of the CX-5 in Australia is available on Feb 1, 2015. And this appears to be the same as the coming 2016 CX-5. So, my question is, when will this 2016 (or will the US also get a 2015 mid year update like Australia?) CX-5 become available in the US?

I am excited that this commercial is out but wish someone knew a concrete date.. LOL, I risk my life everyday I drive my car waiting to see if I can even get this car for a decent price when it is out. I am dying to get something new and this has been at the top of my list for months now.

 

I see on Autotrader that there are over 500 2016 Mazda CX-5's for sale. See this search listing here.

At first I called B.S. but then see some of these have VIN's. I am in California, and they are all in the East. Can anyone confirm that they are indeed rolling out already or if it's just dealers doing dealer B.S.?

With that Penn and Teller ad already out and playing, it makes me wonder if the models are rolling out now. However, I just reading a short thread on Edmunds and someone said his dealer said still 3-4 months (but of course they would say this to sell 2015's)

 

I just looked up one of the dealers that was one of the ones listed on Autotrader. Yup. They have dozens of them listed.

Any reason to think that it will take much longer in California for whatever reasons?

 

Please take note: If anyone has been to a Mazda dealer ship recently, one would find that the late model 2015 CX-5's bear a striking resemblance to the 2016's. The grill, wheels, and interior all look quite a bit like the 2016 models! ..and quite a departure from the older 2015's. What you won't find is the new i-ActiveSense safety package with proximity sensors/radar all around.
As an owner of an "older" 2015 purchased in Nov '2014; build month 8/14, I am a bit miffed. If had known about the model specification change, I could easily have waited a bit. Oh, well. A deal might be had on the 2015's and you would end up with a 2015 1/2.
