The first thing I would suggest is to check the spark plug wires...they make world of difference if they are old and cracked.

i have replaced the spark pulgs. they are probably have no more than 5k on the spark plugs.i did not replace the spark plug wire though. i didnt know how much or if mazdas have a set Torque to put the plugs in, so i just made a guess.is that the problem?

i have to change out my spark plug and spark plug wires at least once a year. i sometimes get my spark plugs changed more often, just whenever b/c they get old quick. my belts seem to slip alot and make a really bad squeaking noise. i have had them things removed, cleaned out, and checked all over, but no one has found any real problem. get those belts tightened often, either find amechanic who will do it for you or learn how to do it yourself (there are two bolts to be tightened up in that area). the longer you let those belts make that noise, eventually they will slip off and tear and will over heat the car. belt dressing doesn't help this, it can actually cause more problems than anything.

the other thing i would suggest you do (after changing out the spark plugs and spark plug wires) if the car is still idiling rough, then get the fuel injectors cleaned out.
