Hey everyone, new here to the forum. I bought a 1991 Mazda 323 w/ a 5-speed. Haven't taken a good look at the car yet, don't know the motor size. The car runs pretty good considering it was $500 dollars. The car shakes at highway speed (could be balancing, could be something with the whole front left who knows), but that isn't my worst issue. The main thing I'm worried about is that when I'm driving, in any speed or gear, at a lower RPM (no tach) the car slowly picks up speed, but sputters and coughs and doesn't really want to. When I give it up to a 1/4 throttle or possibly a little more, the car accelerates fine. As well, when I am in 5th at highway speeds, if I give the car a fair bit of gas, the engine RPM picks up, but the car barely accelerates, and if I let off to certain extent it seems to "catch" and start speeding up normally again. It isn't snappy or rough, just really smoothly starts picking up speed again. Any info would be awesome, as I know S.F.A. about this car. Thanks everyone. Edit: It is the 1.6L SOHC engine. I hope someone looks at this soon I don't have much room to leave a car where it is for long. Thanks.
