Default mazda 323 questions

i swapped my 323 1.6 87 from efi to carb, this car sat for about 9 years.recently out of curiousity decided to carbed it fabbing the manifold.

so far i flushed the coolant, the radiator flow top and bottom.i replaced the thermostat an radiator cap.new coolant an oil/oil filter, wires and plugs.motor mounts are shot.

i drove the car and it losses power mid range like its missing but catches as i floor it.probably cause the carb is big and everything is stock.my more important questions is water started spitting around the water pump on the passenger side,i forgot to turn the electric fan on(via toggle switch),and my top radiator hose was pressurized with coolant and stayed there.so i drove home and logged on here.

the previous owner passed so i dont know why it sat.i opened the head and had dried sludg on and around the rockers.i cleaned that.timing belt jumped so i had to retime and set the belt.started again.

finally my brakes arent firm,i have to pump it to build pressure but eventually itll stop the car just not instantly.

any ideas?im buying a new water pump and belt, not sure of an oil pump, clutch kit(performamce comes later). space is limited as im used to rwd vehicles, how do i work in such tight places?thanks for any responses.

A car that has sat for that long has not good a single good shaft seal left; nor timing belt, nor accessories drive belts either.
The piston seals in your hydraulics will not be sealing either, but may or may not recover. You have not got a performance car project, you have got a restoration project.
