May be the end of the line for my 93
93 LX Auto
I noticed it had been making somewhat of a whine, then my wife borrow it last weekend. Now it appears to be stuck in low gear. I tried to drive it around the neighborhood but could not get it out of low gear. I tried shifting manually but it didnt seem to matter. I checked the tran fluid level and it looked ok.
Not sure if there is anything else I can do to diagnose. I was going to go down a hill in neutral (it does roll) and throw it into drive, but I was afraid I might end up leaving the trans. on the road.
Should I get out a hammer and bang on it?

No Cel, no blinking o/d. You are right that it is probably too late for the fluid/filter change, but there is a remote possibility it could help. The more I have looked into the trans issues with these cars, the more I realize it may be time to say goodbye if there is not a low cost quickfix.
