how do i retrieve something droped in the transmission through the bell housing
I just finised installing a new water pump in my 95 Madzda 626 lx 2.0
and in order to tightin the primary pully that is connected to the crankshaft pully
i had to jam the transmission to stop the engine from turning.
so I removed the starter motor and wedged the transmission gear with a small flat wrench.
It was goin fine the pull was finally tighting but then that wrench fell down into the transmission
1st thing i did is purchased a teloscopic magnet (magnet with a Bendable neck)
and went into there to find it but it didn't work
My father suggested i find and take off the transmission inspection plate
It should be somewhere near the bell housing
but this being my first mazda i dont know where exactly it is
any ideas???

Are you talking about an auto or standard transmission? I would guess an auto. If it has an inspection plate it will be on the front bottom of the trans (facing the engine) where the trans meets the engine. If it is an auto it also could have fallen behind the torque converter too.

It is an automatic trans.
Now when you say front you mean the closest to the fans right?
and i have checked where the engine meets the transmission but still dont see it
i will check it again.
Is the torque converter hard to get to

new update i called the aammco transmissions and they said there isn't an inspection plate in a 626
the bell housing is what is used to inspect.

I got it out!
not an issue anymore
I removed the bottum two plugs to the transmission
and pulled the wrench through the hole
it was a real tedious process and if anybody
goes in the tranny
i suggest you dont drop anything in there!!!
