2002 Mazda 626 interior
Hello again.
I am wanting to replace the plastic (bezel/trim? i think they are called?) pieces that surround my shift ****, radio, and speedometer/AC vents...
I guess the paint is starting to peel off, so if someone accidentally scratches it with their nail (or anything for that matter) then it leaves a very obvious mark. I asked about this a couple months ago in a different thread and it has pictures. But I decided to go ahead and see if I could just replace those pieces rather than painting the old ones.
I have done a lot of research this morning and I found out the black plastic piece around the shift **** just pops right off but the piece around the radio/speedometer is what I am worried about. My radio is a new aftermarket one (single DIN with a hollow pocket underneath to put stuff in) I had put in at Best Buy about a year ago so I don't know if I would have to disconnect the radio.. As far as I can tell, the plastic piece around the radio just pops off and I won't have to mess with the radio, just disconnect the cigarette lighter.
Anyone know what it involves to remove the plastic bezel pieces from around the radio and speedometer?
*The picture I attached is one I pulled off google (too lazy to go outside and take a pic, lol) but is the same as the inside of my car.

i think the radio is the same as on the millenia, at least it looks the same. on each side are vertical pieces that pry off, exposing the holes where you need to insert the din tools that unclip the radio, so it can be taken out. these pieces are only about 6mm wide, and they only go one one way. cant help you on the speedo, on the millenia, the entire panel that contains the a/c controller comes out, exposing the dash, which then comes out easily. only 4 screws
ok, here is a pic of the radio, and it is the same. look at the sides, the pieces i was referring to are gone, and you can see where they went:
