2000 Mazda 626 - Check Engine light came on
My check engine light came on a few days ago, the car has been idling rough for the last few weeks, don't know if the two are related.
I also have to get the 60K service done, I am at 68K rightnow, could that be the reason for the light to come on?
I took my car to Merchants today for the 60K service but then he said first I need to fix the engine light problem before he could do the service. He offered to do the diagnostic for $ 90. Is this reasonable?
The only problem so far with the car is uneven idling when it is in park or neutral postion or when I am stopped at a red light, I can feel it.
What should I do now?

I would take it to Autozone, or a parts store in your area. Most in my area will check to see what is causing the light to come on for free. They cannot do diagnostics, but they should tell you what code(s) is stored in the computer. It will be in the format of P0440 as an example.

I am also having this same problem. It just started 2 days ago. I have around the same amount of miles, same year. Mine is the V6 engine. If you get yours figured out, can you let me know what it is?
