if you can find a partner, have them get in the car while you have a 21mm socket on a breaker bar and have them crank the engine in little bursts at a time against your breaker bar. that will get it off pretty easily. just be sure the socket is on the bolt ALL THE WAY. then, when you've got the bolt off, just wiggle the pulley back and forth and it will come off, you shouldnt need a wheel puller.

another option is for someone to hold on to the brakes while you do it when the car is in gear. but cranking against a breaker bar is much easier.

Similar note... I tried searching for water pump changing info for my '96 626 DOHC and maybe just didn't know what to search for, but I'm curious what process has to be followed to change the water pump. Juding by clearances, I'm guessing the engine needs to be pulled up or dropped down to allow access, is this correct? Any help appreciated. Thanks,

Brian

if you dont want to pull the engine, use a box wrench a lot and a LOT of patience. on the other hand Mr. 626mazdaspeed, make sure that nothing is broken (pulley mounts, make sure the pulleys are turning, etc) if something is not turning, it would result in a belt coming off, but there would have been some squealing as well...

I used a impact wrench to take it off, came off very easy. I would NOT use a impact for re-assembley. My car is a 97 626 2.0
