Default interior paint

I have a mazda protege and looking to redo the interior, right now it is tan, i have already ordered new carpet and seat covers to make it black, i have the plastic paint to paint the plastic but what about the rubber pieces. I have done this before to my old truck but have the same problem. how do you paint the rubber pieces and not have it peel off or rub off so easily. is there some kind of special paint for the rubber type pieces.
