Default Passive anti-theft system problem (even though my cheap truck doesn't have PATS)

Hello, I'm new to these forums so please forgive any protocol mistakes.

I believe my bone stock, no options 2007 B2300 truck doesn't have the passive anti-theft system. It's got a regular small key. But, intermittently (maybe 4 times in a week and then not at all for a few months) when I try to start it the PATS light blinks and the car won't start. Then after a period of time, it starts just fine. Sometimes this takes less than a minute and only two or three key turns, other times it works on the hundredth key turn the next day.

I took it to the dealership the second time it happened but it was working fine and they couldn't figure out what had happened. The next time it wouldn't start I had it towed to the dealership but by the time they tried it worked just fine. Again they couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
