P1506
I have a '97 Mazda 626 2 cyl. engine. I've got the dreaded engine warning light, and a reading indicates P1506. Is there anything I can do to figure out the cause on my own? Otherwise, how long should a good mechanic need to be able to daignose this?

Did you figure out the p1506 problem?
I have the same problem. Mine idles at 850 or so, has this code and timing is advanced 2 degrees. Ecu controls timing and IAC valve depending on various inputs. Looks like others say. The following is something to consider: intake manifold leaking, evap system malfunction, oxygen sensor problems, IAC circuit including ECM and wiring to be considered. Other things are cleaning the IAC valve, binding trottle cable or cleaning throttle body.
