Default Need Help ASAP!

I need help ASAP. I got taken by some mechanics at Jiffy Lube and I need to know the name of a specific part. They stole a part from my engine. It is a pretty good sized plastic piece about my raidiator that connects to my air filter. It looks like a air scoop or something. I popped my hood the other the day and noticed it was gone but do not know what the name of it is. I am writing the corporate office a nasty letter about the negative practice that is going on at the Jiffy Lube store. Can someone help me out with the name of the part I described. Thank you.

Thought that if I could get year and model would be able to get a replacement part number as well as cost to replace to include with the letter. Diagram below is for a 2003 Protege. If you are talking about the part labeled #1 in lower left then it is simply called a fresh-air duct. #2 right next to it called a resonance chamber.

I have a 2002 protege lx. Any help would be much appreciated if you can find the part number and cost that would also be much help. Also does anyone know what kind of affect it could have on my engine when driving w/o that piece. Thank you.

You will need to tell him the numbered piece from the pic like 1 or 2. that way babyhuey can tell you.

LOL! I was just gonna say that it sounds like you're talking about an intake-duct.

That sucks that they messed with your car, bro. [:@] I'd be going back to the store with a baseball-bat or some other pain-inflicting object, but your "letter to the corporate office" idea sounds like it would be a better choice.

The fresh-air duct is a Mazda part #ZL01-13-200C and has MSRP of $64.25.
Two 10mm nuts that secure it to the radiator are #90907-0602G with MSRP of $2.25 each.
Double check price with your dealer as markup can vary by area.
Driving without the piece will not cause any adverse engine problems. You may notice more noise from intake air however. It is primarily there to collect cooler outside instead of hot engine compartment air to contribute to a more dense air intake charge.
