Default Lost power!

I am having trouble with my 92 mazda LX, I was tooling down the road keeping up with a new mustang when suddenly the car lost power, started gas knocking..... It does idle but has a noticeable miss, plus when the gas is floored it sounds as if the breather is starving for air. I made it home an checked all the plugs which fired, timing belt is new an in time, checked all fuses with no luck... The engine light has not came on or any other problem at all other than the loss of power, not sure if this car has a MAP sensor...The car has 154,400 and ran perfect til this happened, this car has been great, I gave 100 bucs for it beforea fresh auto transmission rebuild, new waterpump, timing and all other belts. Any help would be greatly appreciated....[:@]

Default RE: Lost power!

Was the engine overheating when your power loss occured. Spark knocking like that would typically only occur if the engine were overheating, camshaft/crankshaft timing jumped, or engine was suddenly running very lean. Any vaccum leaks?

Default RE: Lost power!

The car hasn't ran hot at all, recently put in a new water pump timing and all belts, also a new radiator...The pinging isn't excessesive but noticeable, never done this before the loss of power..I did check timing and all is correct, also checked for vaccum leaks an none were found...I did check the TPS(throttle position sensor) when I unhooked the connection there was a noticeable change, so I figure it is ok, I also unhooked the SCU(speed control unit) with no change at all, could this be the culprit?? This part is expensive as I have called for prices an they run 270 to 300 so obviously I want to be sure... I've also searched for a code scanner, all I have found are 96 an newer, so not much help..........Thanks
