hi, I'm new to this forum. i have searched theposting archive but could not find a answer to my problem...
on my 94' protege 1.8 dohc when it's warm or cold (but mostly when warm) the idle will go from 1000rpm to2000rpm. or drop down to 400-500rpm. there seems to be no specific thing that triggers it. it can stay high for some time or just jump momenterly and then down again, some times almost stalls. most of the time it will be around 1500rpm. i tried to adjust the screw in the top near the throttle and it did help to prevent itfrom goingover 1500rpmand up but it is still very erratic. the check engine lighthas NOTcome on. i had tried to disconnect the power from the EGR valve, and when i did the idle had jumped up. dose this mean that the egr valve is working?
also any ideas how to fix the cruise control?the on/off button in the car go's on but i cant set the speed or get it to engage.
