wiper blade help!

After my mechanic put in a second rebuilt wiper motor, my wipers worked for a short period of time, then quit working after an ice storm and my stupidity froze them to the windshield. Mechanic told me I needed a new switch for $365. OK ouch, so upon plucking a used switch from junkyard complete with wires and connector, the wipers still didn't work. It's not the fuse, and it's not the relay. The only other thing is my "new" switch has intermittant action, whereas my old, original switch did not. Would this affect the wiring in a way that would cause the wipers to still not work? When juice is supplied to the motor it does make a noise, so we don't think it's the motor. Ideas? Anyone? Do I need to go back to the salvage yard and get the correct switch, or is that not necessary?

What year is your protege?

My guess is that you need to use the correct switch unless some trim packages (sub categories) of your year and model came with the intermittent function. If so, confirm that the switch is all you need for intermittent function. There might be more to it than the switch. If your in doubt, get the exact same switch. You said the motor makes a noise, but does it turn? If not, the motor is toast.

My mazda is a 94 protege, and that would make sense to open up the motor and take a look at it working while I hit it with some juice, I hadn't thought of that! Is it easy to tell which position is the park position for the wipers too? Getting good at the junkyard scramble.

hi guys. iv got a 1.8isx 01 model. im my car should be able to outrun the 1.6 right? but im findiing myself just keeping up with it. how does this "boosting kit" work is it just a normal turbo system we talking about? how do i get my hands on it?
or how can i get extra power for my car?

Just make sure the motor is grouned to the body when you test it. This might not make any difference, but in some wiper motors I've seen, they use the chassis as the negative connection.
