I'm pressed for time and will prolly come up with something else to say about that article but for now, who else thinks that was a bit biased??

I had seena  few other poorly documented tests and began to think that our Speed3's had a huge loss through powertrain but did'nt want to believe it because i've driven cars with almost thing much power on hand and some over it and it just feel damn near what Mazda claims.  If this guy is legit then my thought are put to rest.  255whp and 282 wtq.  Holy crap.  I now feel like i did 6 months ago when i was trying to pry info out of coporate mazda and planning my attack on the local dealer!!!!  Boost FTW!

Good article. It was also interesting to read what the Evo guys posted about the info.

mikems3 or whoever. Is it worth buying a blow off valve for the car.and would u hear the sound off the blow off valve with the recirculation  parts.i love the sound but want to keeop the boost up and not let it drop liek u said wiht the plastic stock shit.

If your staying stock, and going to have it recirculating either way, i say no.  It's not worth it.  It's performing the same function and noone has given any proof that the stock valve is inferior.  It is however obvious that after a few mods and tunes it has the potential to bleed under pressure.  So it's not a bog deal at all. The more i think about it the more i am going with 'no' for mine.  Until it's shown that it's a prob in my specific dynos i won't replace it.  As for the sound i doubt you'd hear anthing more than your stock setup.  Like i said in a previos post adding the cold air intake is a much better bang for those bucks.  More power and more cool turbo sounds.  I won't fault you for doing it but i personally will upgrade elsewhere.

Overall, I really haven't seen many articles out there that have bad things to say about the MS3. Is it bias... yeah maybe... who knows... who cares...

I'd leave the BOV alone untill u do other mods to it as well-agreed!

Initially I wanted to get a battery tender.... I have not acted on this.... Although I have been moving it in and out the garage recently just because we've been doing some body work on the CRX....
I'm not sure how much benefit you get from just having the car start up and sit in idle because nothing else is getting warmed up... I can not start the car and take it on a small drive like some recommend because its not on the road.....I'm also concerned (AKA anal) over flat spots..not just having it sit in the cold-so i have it sitting on carpets in the garage....

Well it sounds like you care about it and are aware so that's all that matters ^^.  My father has a bettery tender on his bike, guess they work out pretty well.  Infourtunatly mine won't get the privilage of sitting out the nasty stuff but like someone said in response to my steel rim question, it's not gonna do much here in my area.  Althought ironically after saying that, tonight is supposed to be the fisrt bit of winter weather for us.  Laters.

PS we should petition CP-E to post those friggan sound clips of their intake!! lol J/K

CEL at 440 miles.  Car seems to run fine.  Will have to wait until this Saturday to get to the dealer in New Orleans.  (GO SAINTS)

Hey guys, just bought my MS3 last week...~400 miles so far with no issues.  Thanks for this forum...there's alot of great info on here about the vehicle.

Have any of you had issues with wheel spin in the cold weather.  I had it out this morning, and it was spinning the wheels pretty easily...no ice or snow on the road, but it was pretty cold.  I'm thinking about getting a set of winter wheels/tires...any recommendations...

Uber power + FWD = Wheel spin.  You definatly need to get used to it cause when matted it will spin first and second without a second thought.  Then the nanny comes in and busts the party.  Penalty, less boost.  Come out of 1st just before 5k.  And um for the love of all things Mazda, break it in a lil ! lol  400miles and testing the traction control?  Fun times I know but be kerrfull ^^ peace

They are called "summer tires" for a reason. Glad you like the car. I think all of us are happy with our decision to buy the MS3.

Any word on a release date/price for the intake/exhaust from Mazdaspeed?

I don't have anything to back this up...just a thought and maybe full of shit.....but is it possible that the people who got the 1st wave of MS3s are getting the CELs than the 2nd wave-and somehow somewhere in production this was corrected?

What do you guys consider break in..I've heard 900...then track people say 1000 to as high as 2000...

I can't wait till summer time cruises....specially since mazdapalooza was out of the question....

Yeah....what's up with mazdaspeed parts??? That 30HP wouldn't be a bad thing so early in the game even if it only peaks at full throttle... besides I'd like to do something over winter thats more than just sight and sound...anyone tried any aftermarkets?

mine is geting ready to turn 1000, so I think it is time to wind it up a bit

I turned over 1300 the other day.

I for one wouldn't be getting any aftermarket/OEM performance parts because as is, the FWD can't handle anymore power basically.  Waste of money.

Yeah I understand they have summer tires, but I've driven plenty of vehicles with summer tires here in Michigan, and none have been this bad.  I'm just saying that I was barely into the throttle from a standing start and they were spinning pretty easily.  I think I'm definitely going to get some winter tires...

Toyo Proxes FZ4's do alright in the snow (I'm in S.E. Mi), but the Dunlop wintersport M3's on my wife's car are night/day difference.

I wouldn't go that far. It depends on when/how you use the extra HP. Anyway, I don't intend on changing mine either (other than maybe the wheels).

Extra power could always be used at highway speeds.  It's just down low, getting off the line that FWD suffers from physics.

and high speed turns.

Is there any plans on a Short Shifter?  That is actually the only mod I could see doing to this.

Well, looks like I am soon to be an owner of a Mica Blue Speed 3. I canceled my order on a Saturn Sky Redline - interminable wait - (not really a practical vehicle anyway!) after visiting the Mazda Dealer and viewing a Mazdaspeed 3. It seems as though this could be a great decision - lots of luggage space and some serious performance. I feel like this car seems to combine practicality with performance. My reasoning may be flawed but I am delighted this vehicle will carry two sets of golf clubs!

Dealer says it should arrive in a few weeks.

I look forward to reading about the car and others opinions.

You will NOT be dissappointed in your decision at ALL!  The speed 3 is awesome.  As for the clubs, they won't fit in the "trunk" but fit across the back seats perfectly., or folding a seat down and then in the "trunk"

My only problem with my MS3 is that it is Arrest me Red.  I would have LOVED to have Black on Black!  Or the Grey.
