You don't without bypassing the computer.

It's not that easy (or cheap)....You would need to create your own fuel map to run the engine to run the standalone computer. To do this right, you need ready access to a dyno ($$$$) to tune/tweak the fuel mapping for ideal.
I'd say top end on a stock Mazda6 beyond the speed limiter is in the 140-145 mph range.

My 2007 Mazda 6 barely makes 110 mph, then starts gasping for air. There is a speed limiter( I asked my gear head mazda mechanic)
Some one must know how to swap out chips or overide this feature. I plan on adding a cold air intake and a decent catback exhaust,if I can ever find one.

Got that need for speed!

email the guys over at Unichip. though i have yet to get confirmation from the people that have it on the car, but i believe they say it will remove the gov. so for like $750 or so you'd get a bit of gains as well as remove the gov.

I have no prob. hitting 120 in 4th gear, then the nose drops and my back comes off the seat when the car stops pulling. After all that it will sputter from 119 to 120 cutting in and out!!! I want to go faster in the car! I do have a weekend ride GSX1000 that will do 160mhp.

The uk model is unristricted and from personal experience i wouldnt take the car over 130 anyway the stearing gets very light and the front end starts to lift

i'd guess most people looking to surpass the gov. are those that mod tha car as well. i've had mine up to 145 and didn't have any drivabilty issues whatsoever.

Hi,
MrTea, how did you bypass the gov. ???

well, nothing is stock. from having a build ford focus engine, HiBoost turbo and now swapping out the atx for a ford focus mtx....the biggest thing is the ecu though. i run a haltech standalone unit.

you can add a stand alone that will get rid of some of the stock settings. it just piggy backs onto the stock computer.

Is that piggy back better than the unichip piggy back??

unichip is designed more for turbo and i think is the best thing that you can do to a turbocharged car. for naturally aspirated cars, i think that you need to find another way to go. stand alone is a term for the engine management style.

didn't quite follow what the last post meant.
a piggyback tweaks the inputs of sensors to get desired results from the stock ecu. a standalone makes it's own decisions, you just tell it what you want.
right now, Unichip isn't out for the 4cyl that i know of. Haltech doesn't work on the V6 as of yet. so there are no decisions to make. you CAN get a full standalone with fuel and timing for the 4cyol by way of Microtech, but it's in teh $1400 range. for the Unichip to work on a boosted setup, you would need a purchase a few other leads/sensors as well.

MrTea I was looking to order a unichip but they offer two kinds.
This might sound stupid but I want to get the wright one. One is for stock and the onhter is for a "CAI" what dose CAI stand for??

CAI stands for Cold Air Intake, if you already have a CAI on your car or plan on installing one soon.

i agree with MrTea ... i had have mine to about a buck and a half (approx 143) ... with no problem , all with stock aplications, .. i would suggest you simply just give your car a staight tume up , certian things can cause lag in a car, old, clunk oil... clogged/clogging oild filter , old antifreeze liquid, (the cooler the engine is , the better it runs) spark plugs, and possible the coil pack.. properly inflated tires (big drag) ... heres a funny one to remember , you know how a parashute stops a person (if you didnt) i would suggest closing all windows when going at high speeds, wind is a big air push/drag ... also make sure the wind is in your favor ... not againts your car, (dont do it on a windy day) if not , your just a big air damn ... lol... anyways, the only things i've ever changed in my car thats not 'stock' is that i've installed a Clutch Masters clutch Stage 1 ... because i've experienced slippage at high speeds, with minimal torq application...
hey chief, i'm under the impression that you may have an automatic car, ... you do realize that a manual trani surpasses an automatic, ..
good luck with your speeding chief!

where you from Joker, never seen a stock US mazda able to crack the 120, unless your a speed. and i personally wouldn't suggest going over that if the car is stock anyhow.
Bree, i think you got your answer about the Unichip. but keep in mind, as Stealth said, you need to go to a Unichip dealer to get the gov removed.
