ahhh your hurting my feelings there richard. ouch youve been on a roll today lol.

 Sorry, and perhaps you're right.
I've been having a fight w/my main boys (re: local)  on the M3forums today, and also perhaps, I should have my hormone levels checked.  It's put me on the defensive all day.
There must be something in the air that so many of us have been abrasive lately?  First EC on here, then a few guys I know elsewhere, and now even me!!  Even SPeeDy has not been his usual self!!  He's been on something of an abrasive/aggressive roll lately too.  What's w/that?
Sorry if I really did hurt your feelings Jaime.  I'm not myself.

It could be SAD/sunlight deprivation, or maybe its just something to which trunk-deprived station wagon owners are prone.

I look forward to Jaimie's 14 replies to this message ...

I assume you guys are talking about power lock cars. My '08 3i has key holes on both the passenger and driver's doors. I use the passenger keyhole ALL the time.

Actually, I was quite young in the '60's... only 12 when 1970 came around.   The '70's were really "my" decade. (High school grad, college, girls, sex, drugs and Rock n Roll!!  Yeah, Baby!)

Look, I'm just here to pass along information. If I was lying (and WHY would anyone lie about something so STUPID?), I'm a graphic artist by trade, and I'd just whip up a photoshopped version of a pic.

You want "proof"? Go find it yourself. All I've got is a camera phone, and it doesn't have the resolution to take a decent pic.

When I bought my 3i a few weeks ago, they had 6 more just like mine, all strippos with A/C as the only option, and they ALL had passenger-side keyholes. (Why did I notice? Who knows?) If it's such a big deal, then why not go to your nearest Mazda dealer and walk around the lot? Sounds like some people are just misinformed, or just too accustomed to seeing power-lock cars. I can't imagine how a manual-lock car wouldn't have a keyhole in the passenger-side door, or the trunk for that matter.

I've got better things to do with my time than borrow somebody's camera just to prove a no-brainer fact about my car. Don't believe me? WHO CARES? You can't believe half the crap you read on the internet anyway. Just call it "The Great Keyhole Conspiracy". Geez.

 vm,
We were actually talking to EC who's got a (upscale) Speed3.  Upon further reflection I can see where the base model might indeed have a RS keyhole/lock.  But the power lock cars, that we all know of, including my own '04 s model, don't and that's why we've been questioning EC.
Take it easy, Man.  Nothing personal.  We're just having a little fun at EC's expense.

+1. why you gotta be a dickhead bout it... we just want to know about that and see a picture of it. and  now that you mention it. without the keyless entry it kind of make sense.. dentinger do you got a passenger keyhole or no?

In order for some M3s to have a passenger door key hole, and others to not have a passenger door key hole, Mazda would have to have two different passenger doors made.  In order to have a functioning key, you need to have a different handle AND some different guts inside the door.  To go to all this trouble, for just a certain model (the most basic, least expensive model?), and to change it effective 2008, five years into this particular generation of the Mazda 3, and when a major revamp of the Mazda 3 is on the near horizon (2009 or 2010 model year) ... it would be shocking.

Mazda would take this step because .... ?

As a Mazda 3 owner, whenever I see one parked somewhere, I generally go and take a peek at it, no recollection of ever seeing a keyhole on the passenger door.  The 08s have been out for several months now, so I know I have seen some 08s.

I am prepared to have much egg thrown in my face if a legit pic can be provided.

what i think is that because in the I touring and above they have the keyless entry they did not need to put a second passenger door key hole... but on the base model that has nothing but A/C,  they are required to have it because you need a way to open it and i believe that is how it works. not tooo sure but thats what i am pretty sure is waht happens
