Mazda 6 2.3 belt or chain

Hi from the UK,
does anyone know for certain whether a Mazda 6 sport (2300cc) 2003 has a timing chain or belt? I've had a strange problem with a dealership. They told me when I bought the car 2006 that it didn't need a cam belt change at 60,000 miles because it uses a CHAIN. After the engine stopped on the road, they have said the BELT had jumped 2 teeth!!!!!
Which is it?

bump.  i need to know the answer as well.
in the manual it says chain. but elsewhere ive read it has a belt (which needs replacement)

All current Mazda's, at least in North American market, use a timing chain including the 2.3 engine in the 6. Last timing belt Mazda used was the 2.0l engine of the 2004 Tribute.
