Hi all, I am new here and don't know much about cars. We bought a mazda 3 about 4 months ago it has about $4000KM on it and today the engine light came on and when we stop the car once we move again it sort of shakes, like the whole car shakes!! Of course we are taking it in first thing tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if anyone has experinced this or has any idea? Thanks a lot :)....

If your Mazda3 is a 2004 model or an early build 2005, you could have a bad engine mount. If you have a later 2005 or 2006, the mount should be OK because the part was redesigned.

Go to the following link:
http://www.finishlineperformance.com/mazda3/bulletins_index.html

and click on: Engine Vibration / No. 3 Engine Mount Rubber Broken.

A PDF file with download to your computer. Print that and take it along with you when you have the car serviced. Hopefully your problem won't be too serious.

did you check the flux capaciter? just kidding,..thats never the problem. I'd sure be interested in knowing what caused that problem tho. Bad engine mount sounds like it could be the problem,...don't know if a bad O2 sensor would cause it tho.... Aside from the shaking,..did the engine run fine? Or would you to busy freaking out about your car shaking apart to notice :)
Does it only shake when your in drive,..how about when your sitting in park and you just rev the engine alittle?

From what I read I think the poster means that it was shaking cause it kept trying to die out. Kinda like when your car is about to run out of gas or has a bad injector it shakes cause the engine isnt getting the right fuel mixture. I dont think the mounts have anything to do with this problem.

If your engine light came on, it means there is an issue with your emissions. It still under warranty and the dealer should repair it.
