The 3.0L V6 is pretty common. It's been used in the Taurus and the Escape/Tribute. I believe it's currently also offered in the Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan.

I am curious about this too. I would like to know as well. I popped the hood on my 2004 and it has the 3.0 Liter with variable valve timing. I like the sound of this engine when you get on it although it is not as smooth as my VR6 in my 95 Passat.

It's the Ford Duratec V6. They offer it on multiple platforms with Ford, Lincon, Mercury and Mazda.

I was skimming through the owner's manual and looking for the fuel requirement. Is it only regular that it takes?
Any problem putting in 89 or 93? My Passat VR6 and Audi V6 engines will advance the timing if you run premium. Does this engine do the same?

You'd just be wasting money by going any higher than 87 Octane. It doesn't adjust the fuel curves for different gas. Every once and a while I run a tank of premium just to get the cleaner additives that Premium tends to have, but it's maybe 4 times/year
