okay,  the truck has proved to fare well over the past couple of years since i''ve taken possession from my father.  i saved it from a life of trail duty and neglect in the form of half assed maintenence.  i was in a bind and needed some wheels fast and my dad "gave" it to me.  after throwing some money at it,  it has seemed to taken a shine to my care and given me some relatively problem free performance.  i just started a new job (sales with tons of driving) and in an effort to keep my spending down (i.e. buying another used car ~ $8k-$12k) i suddenly had a brain fart and thought, since i am without a/c currently, "how much would it cost to add a/c to a non-equipped vehicle?"  btw, it''s a 1990 b2600i 4x4.

any info is appreciated..thanks

Check out "Vintage Air"...they have AC kits that you can put into just about any vehicle.

Search yahoo and you should find it.

And likely cheaper and less hassle than dealing with 20 year-old parts from a donor, which would''ve been R-12 anyway, and kit is R134a.

On one of the Mazda websites, a guy posted photos.  I''m still amazed by what he did and wish I had asked if it worked.  He cut a rectangular opening in the rear of the cab under the rear window.  In the opening was a small window AC unit.  Mounted on the wall next to it was a DC to AC converter.  I would think the rough ride of a b-series would eventually destroy the unit or cause leaks.  I don''t think I would ever go that far for AC but what some guys do to their trucks is very interesting to me.
