1990 mazda rx 7 idles at 2000 rpm tried to adjust idle didn't work. Also it is leaking coolant but I am not sure where it is comming from. Doesn't seem to be the radiator. White smoke is constantly comming out but gets worse on acceleration. It overheats very quickly. Replaced thermostat and gasket. Any suggestions?

white smoke indicates a rich mixture and the high idle indicates a bad vacuum line. they could both be explained by a rich mixture though. check to see if you have an injector stuck open. the easiest way to tell this is to let the car sit for a couple of minutes after you kill it and try to start it up again. if you can't start it back up, you have an injector that is either leaking or stuck open. second option is to check if the housing has a water leak somewhere. it may just be time to rebuild.

Your idle is probably a vacuume leak but when you mess with the idle screw on top of the manifold/throttle body you might want to check the voltage for it. It should be .5v and 4.5 wot if i'm not mistaken.
For loosing coolant it might be your coolant seals are gone. Fill the filler necker all the way to the top. Have someone crank the car with the EGI fused pulled out (in the fuse box under the hood) If coolant is pouring out your seals are bad and is time for a rebuild. If it isn't coming out of the filler neck then it is fine, you want to leave the cap off to see. White smoke exhaust have you smelt it? Does it smell sweet? White smoke could be ither fuel or coolant.
