what exactly are you having problems with.
the process its usually as follows:
remove plug
remove rubber gasket
push down and pull out pin
remove old bulb (dont touch bulb)
insert new bulb (dont touch bulb)
install gasket again
install plug again.
where is it that you are having trouble.
also bare with me, i am new to the mazda scene myself, but i installed my xenons on my 03 mazda dx.

first, the clip, just on one end, pushes in and over before it pops out. second, there is a little adapter that goes in between the light and harness. this adapter must be kept. it is hard plastic and the mini bulb plugs into one end and the wiring harness plugs into the other. these are the two most common problems that people have in headlights.
and, yes, if you touch the headlamp itself, it will leave enough of your oils from your hands to heat up and explode inside the housing.

Well the wire harness was apparently in there very tightly, like everything else seems to be on my protege? I did however get them out and replace and put some stuff on it so it'll be alot easier next time haha.
Anddddd Slyvania silverstars are amazing. Make a lot of people mad :).
