First Mazda

Just bought a 2008 Speed 3.  Found this site, so decided to drop in.  Love the car except for the "rattle" in the dash.  Sounds like the plastic around the windshield rubbing the glass.  Anyone else had this issue?

HI!!  And  welcome!!  Congrats on the new ride too.   You MUST post pics!!  It's a moral imperative.      
 
YES!! I've read this complaint from several MS3 owners. I believe it actually has something to do with the windshield/cowl plastic rattling around.  It should be cover by the warranty though and would strongly suggest you mention it to your dealer ASAP.
 
 
  
 

Hey, thanks for the welcome and the fast post.  Haven't had time to get to the dealer but know I need to.  Frustrating to have to take a new car in for work.  Especially this one, as its a blast to drive.  As soon as I figure out how to get a pic under 500KB, I'll get it on here.

We like to develop long term friendships here, as opposed to the hit and run type poster.
That said, and I'm sure I speak for all the regulars, I hope you'll hang around for a while and chat!

Nice color and rims! I am going to try a snap a pic of my wife's 3, it has 18" chrome rims...from the dealer.

The only rattle I have in my RX-8 is my wife when I am driving to fast.

Oooooo!! Do I know THAT rattle. 
The irony there is that she usually drives faster and accelerate harder than I do.  She also shows more road-rage than I do too.

I'm new too. This is my first Mazda as well. It is a Protege 5.
We got the new car for the baby we just had. The previous one was a 2 door convertible. We had to put the top up or down to get the baby in and out of the car. That was a pain in the ***!
This isn't good though, in the new member area you see alot of people having problems with their cars. I think I am going to look into this a little more. The last thing I need is to shell out money for a repair. I really can't afford that with the baby and all.
Does anyone know if the Protage 5's are dependable. I have a 2003 with 41,000 miles.

I know lots of ppl that have P5's and are very happy w/them.  Many that do AutoX regularly.
I personally like the red, yellow or white ones myself.  Good looking car.  And they take a CF hood very well too, but I don't imagine you'd be too interested in that.
 
 

lol can ya say rice if you put a CF hood on it richard. carbon fiber hoods look dumb unless its painted the same colour as the car then its good. but anyway the protege 5 is a nice looking car. the protege turned into the mazda3 sedan and the protege5 turned into the mazda3 station wagon( waiting for richard to get mad at me loll) but i have worked on this car once for an oil change and tire pressure. car ran fine and it had 143000 KMs on it.but all mazdas with the exception of the tribute annnd perhaps some of the trucks which were made by ford are good cars.

welcome to the mazda scene where all the (BEEP) goes down!  i've never driven a mazdaspeed3, i should take a test drive one of these days as they look like very cool cars.  I'm just not a fan of hatchbacks at this point and time in my life lol.

And I still contend that the P5's look great w/a CF hood... in CF, unpainted.  It's the 3 HB's that look stupid w/them. 
  

sorry bro.. i hate the rims.. yuck.. the stock rims r way better than those.. PLEASE for the sake of every1s eyes change them back to stock!!!! but then again thats just my opinion..

yes.. the MAZDA 3 HB looks ridiculous.. the speed3 (with a black top) is a different story..
