fastest speed

hey everyone!!
im just wondering, whats the fastest you've ever driven?
it doesnt have to be in your mazda, anything at all...

i myself have gone:
160km/h in my parents '89 4runner
130km/h (so far) in my '07 mazda3....correction, i did 160 in it today, and it was friggin awesome!!
about 40km/h ish on my Norco Bigfoot (its a bicycle)

In my 1990 honda civic ive gone 200km/h
in my 93 Mazda 626 185 km/h
Parents van 180 km/h
Friends dads beamer 230 km/h
and in my friends 300zx 240 km/h

130 mph - bmw m roadster.
118mph - mazda 3s.
140+ - mercedes e55 amg.

110mph in '02 sportage
120mph in '00 explorer
118mph in '06 axela
135mph in '04 maxima

225km/h    had to see. and it did it like it was on a sunday drive. Wait,  it was sunday

This is quite incriminating but no one was around when i hit 140mph in my Speed3.  Not sure why i rationalized 140 to be a cut off.  What's different about the ride to prison after a 155mph catch and that comming after 140??

The fastest I went in a car was 150 MPH, in a Vette.  Fastest I went on my bike, a CBR 900rr was 160 MPH.

139mph in an Acura NSX.  There was alot of pedal left, just not alot of nerve on my part (i.e. fear of po-po!).
 
Fastest in my 6?  Damn limiter!!!!

98 In my Rx-7. I thought I was going 55 and I looked down, it was one of my first times on the highway. Damn you guys are irresponsible, but I will admit I'll have to manup to go into triple digits someday soon.

and i hit my limiter in my 3 the other week on my way home from the movies with some buddies....
it kinda freaked me out.  it just kinda jerked at 188.....like i took my foot off the pedal.....

Since when does a 3 have a limiter of 188? Is that KMH? I thought the 3 was limited to 120mp/h and the car wouldn't be capable of much more with the limiter gone either.

I hit 120 mph on back roads but then slowed down since I could feel the front end of the car lifting up (this was before I lowered it)

god....why didnt mazda just make the limiter an even 200??
like, 188 is just such an odd number....
and i think i hit 188 at about 4-5000rpm in 5th..... so i could probably hit 200 without the limiter
 
i love it....if you ask me, life is nothing without taking risks like these.
 
and just out of curiosty...how would you make the top speed higher? would a MS3 6 speed tranny work? or are those gears all close ratio for acceleration?  (is that right? close ratio?)

The 3 tops out @ 118 mph around 4800rpm, I think real top speed on a regular 3 would be 130-140 mph.  Mine was accelerating pretty slow at the point where it cut off, my wife's 6 would do much better top end without a limiter, I'd say 145.  I haven't done the rpm conversion to see what the theoretical top speed is, but drag increases exponentially with speed so you can't just say the vehicle would be able to hit red line in top gear or not.

yeah, once you get past 130-140, the 3 starts accelerating pretty slowly....
 
which in turn means mean more time and distance to get to the top speed which means more chances to race past a cop....
which everyone knows is not good
cuz i dont wanna get booked doing 90 over the limit (190km/h ish)

the limiter kicks in at 118mph/188kmh exact, i heard that if you fill your tank with preminium gas it stops at 120mph/200kmh....thats what i heard, it doesnt make sence nor did i try to make sence of it, the only thing that i know is true is the higher the grade on pump gas the more gas milage you get, but then again it only benifits high powered cars (mostly ones with forced induction)

yeah, tell me that 7 years ago.... when gas was half the price...
30-40 cents a litre instead of 80-90 now...
and thats just regular!!
nowadays, premium fuel is like, $1.10 a litre

Fuel doesn't matter on the cut-off - It's tied into the computer and the speedo.  (Gear & rpm)

still.... gas is getting way expensive....
i heard over in Iraq its like, 2 cents a litre.
but you know the old saying; if you can afford a car, you can afford the gas
