I just got a 1988 Mazda 626 today. I went to do some basic tune up stuff. When I tried to replace the distibutor rotar the new one wouldnt fit. I took it back to the auto part store and they gave me one for a non turbo which looked fairly similar to the one that came off. The old distibutor rotar had a mitsubishi logo on it.... I want to know if maybe theres a car that mitsubishi makes thats similar to the 626 that may have the distibutor rotar I am looking for. The car is an 1988 so maybe someone swapped the distributor from one at the junkyard... HELP!

The mitsubishi symbol on the rotor as well as many other electrical parts on a Mazda are made by this supplier. This is very normal and not swapped from a mitsubishi vehicle. You did not specify whether a turbo or not as this does make a difference.
If it is a turbo, it makes a difference depending on your VIN.

It is turbo charged.... I picked up the "correct rotar" but it didnt fit so I went back and tried to get the non turbo rotar and that was to big now im stumped...As far as VIN goes what would that contribute to?

It makes a difference of some kind, not exactly sure. There is a breaking point on the VIN of UP TO (last 6) 568567. After that point it takes another part number.

So what should I do about the distributor rotar? Where should I get it from or what should I ask for differently
