Hello,
I am moving from Michigan to Toronto and I found out from Mazda that in order to comply with Canadian requirements I have to install daytime running lights or DRL’s.
What is this thing? How much should it cost? Is is something that I can install myself (without voiding warrenty)?
Can I have it installed in the US (would it be cheaper, what kind of shop would do that)?
thanks for your help.

Daytime running lights or DRL means that your headlights come on automaticaly when engine is running unless the parking brake is engaged. It is Canadian Law. What model year is your MPV. Am looking at 2004 MY wire diagram and looks like you may only need to install a DRL control module if the wiring is in place for it which it probably is. And no it will not void your warranty as it is a factory option is some area's.

Thanks for the information. It is 2003 Mazda. Is it something that can be done in the US?

Let me take a look tomorrow when I get back to the daily grind to see if wiring is there and what a DRL module will set you back.
