Will need to go to your local Mazda dealer and have the DRL function activated in the smart junction box. It is a programmable parameter that can be changed with no parts replacement needed.

No need to replace anything. I tried it on one of our stock vehicles and it took about 5 minutes.

Cool

sorry to bother, the mazda tech here isn't familiar with the procedure. Any chance you could email him directions?

His email is wrix@stcatharines.mazda.ca in the subject line put Tribute instructions....

If you dont wish to deal with him, could you email it to me? jrross1@cogeco.ca

Really appreciate all your help, thanks again......

Is the SJB change only relevant for newer models?

As i have an American 2003 Model that i imported to Canada and need DRL fitted and every Mazda dealer gives me a different response.

Some say i need a DRL Module, some say the Module doesn't work and a $20 relay needs running, and other's say don't bother get an aftermarket part.

So if the 2003 just needs this SJM that would be awesome.

A 2003 would not have a SJB but instead uses a GEM ( Generic Electronic Module ). DRL is not a programmable parameter for that model year. It looks like all you should need would be a DRL module and relay along with a couple of fuses. The only problem I am seeing is that I looked iin the area where these two components should be located on a 2002 Trib and do not even see any unused connectors that would plug into the module and relay. Would have to say that it either has DRL or it does not period. Think you may have less headache involved by just going with an aftermarket system.
