Anyone else with a stick experiencing this? If it is wet or even dry and yo get front wheel spin you get a nasty clunking from the front end. Once when it was wet I spun the tires in first and it made an loud clunk that you can feel through the entire car. This not a normal sound or feel I have felt in any other car. I am very mechanical and I am not sure what this is. Limeted slip kicking in? If it is it sure is not a good system.
This weekend I did speed shifted from first to second and the fronts turned about one rotation and then I felt and herd the big clunk again. It amost feels like the transmission in moving and contacting something under the car. I have not really looked the car over but am wondering if this just my car or other her and feel the same thing. Mine is a 2006 2.0i 5 speed. Thanks.

Are you experiencing wheel hop? Basically the torque from the engine and the turning wheel causes the front...... um, let's say right..... tire to "hop" off the ground. It can make a bit of a thunk. Any other problems? I'm thinking if your tranny was doing something weird you'd be having other problems with it.

I could be wheel hope but I doubt it. It sounds more mechanicial in nature. My Z06 corvette had wheel hop. I don't think the 150HP is enough to make it happen but I could be wrong. It sounds real bad in the car. It wasn''t as bad in the rain so it could be wheel hop. It was bad this weekend on the power shift for sure.

redvett, that definitely sounds like a case of wheel hopping...the 3 is known to do that, and its most likely not good for the car. if it happens again, dont try to drive through it...just ease of the gas.

Once was in the wet and once you let off it is fine. It sounds really bad when you nail a nice power shift and you get that. What is the fix? Better front shocks and a bigger sway bar? I now guys auto cross these cars so there has to be some type a fix. Its the only negative I have found in this car so far. If it breaks I want it to do it under warranty not just after it runs out!

There are also replacement motor mounts that supposedly reduce this condition.
