does any one know what a p0440 code means when ck engine light is on? got it checked@ autozone. was having battery problems-relatable? would a power shortage cause a check engine light come on?

It can nathant but would usually be restricted to oxygen sensor heater codes. You must have a 96 or so vehicle right? The P0440 is just a generic code indicating that there is a problem or malfunction in the evaporative emissions system. This is the system that controls and manages fuel vapors to keep them from escaping to atmosphere. Later model vehicles have a more diversified code selection for evap problems to let you know if a specific component of the evap system is faulty of if there is a leak present. Leaks in a hose or connection equal to a hole .040" in diameter can cause this code to be set as well as the fuel filler cap being left loose after refueling.
