CD Player

Hello,
My MS Protege 00 ES's CD Player is malfunctioning. Whenever I put a CD in, it plays perfectly fine. When I skip tracks, the CD usually just spins in the CD player for a while, maybe like 3-5 mins. (you can hear it spinning) and then plays the track, and sometimes, that problem doesn't occur, but usually it does. Any solutions? I cleaned the CD eye with a CD eye cleaner (it's a cd w/ a brush).

the only answer sometimes is that the CD player just needs to be replaced. my CD player does that occasionally with burned CD's.
