Just picked up my 2008 CX-9 today, and can't figure out how to remove the cover. Seems like it must pull out from one of the side panels, but doesn't seem to want to budge.

Facing into the trunk area, the right side of the cover has a black end piece that "slides" inward unlatching the bar from its recesses. It is spring loaded to hold it in place. Good luck.
