i have been in love with the rx7 for years now and i am finally able to get one of my own. i am getting alot of mixed views on the car in general pertaining to the rotory engine. i currently am looking at an 86' with 210000 miles that runs strong and has good body and interior from what i am told. the problem is the clutch goes to the floor and the guy thinks it needs a water pump because he had the alarm go off before he parked it. the seller is also throwing in an 88' that runs really rough. wat kind of potential nightmare am i in for?

it's not as big of a nightmare as it's made out to be. personally, i wouldn't pay more than 2000 for it though. an older rx7 will always become a project at a certain point, so i would just plan on having a sunny day driver instead of a daily. as for working on one, the engine internals can get expensive because most people won't touch them. other than that, the rest of the motor is basically the same.

Thank you wsoape281. I really appreciate your feadback. this car is not ment to be a daily driver but a weekend ride and possibly show car. do you have any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting a 13b that runs rough?

compression is a good place to start on any motor. coil packs, igniters, fuel pressure, etc. just the same as any car, there are just slightly different methods.
