Sometimes when I cold start my car I get a squeeling from the engine. It doesn't last more than about 2-3 seconds because the engine revs pretty high on startup then comes back down. I also hear the squeeling/chirping when at low idle in gear (stopped). Usually when the car is warmed up or has just been driven the squeeling isn't there.
I had all three belts changed about 3-4 months ago because the serpentine broke and the others looked tired. The belts had been squeeling at that point as well before the serpentine broke.
I stopped by a Mazda dealership today and they said it could be an idler pulley starting to seize up or possibly the alternator seizing. I thought maybe a tensioner had to be adjusted.
It's a '93 929 with 238,000 km's
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

My 93 dose that too. I see some bits of the belt on the front cover. I thinks its the alternator with mine.

when I had my belts changed the dealer said things were seized up but didn't say what. I guess they lubed it enough to get by a couple months.
I wonder if hitting all the pulleys with a good spray lubricant will help.
