MY TRUCK FAILED EMISSION TESTING TODAY ( NOX, CO & HC). I WAS ADVISED TO DO TIMING ON THE TRUCK FIRST. I HAVE A TIMING LIGHT AT HOME BUT I'M NOT SURE IF I'M DOING IT PROPERLY. ANYONE CAN ASSIST ME i WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

first turn the crank so you can see the notch on the crank pully and put some bright paint on it so you can see it while the motor is running. then jump the diag. connecter and use your light to set the timing to 5 deg. (give or take 1 deg.) by turning the distributor. also check your idle at this time.

the connector is located on the passenger side of the truck it is green in color, and as far as jumping if you have a manual it will tell you the proper way to do this.
